What Is The Anime All About?

Violet Evergarden is a female ex-soldier at the Great War. She loses her arms and is hospitalized after a bloody face-off. Here she receives prosthetic arms and tries to recall the last words her mentor/ guardian told her at the battlefield.

Violet then tries to make ends meet and live a normal life. She joins a postal service as a writer where she witnesses Auto Memory Dolls that transcribe people’s thoughts and feelings into words. A scientist named Dr. Orlando initially used such dolls to assist his visually impaired wife in writing. Moved by the concept Violet decides to work as an Auto Memory Doll, a trade that exposes to her (an otherwise emotion-less person) the varied number of adventures and she tries to find herself through her client’s feelings.
